I have been to this fencing club. Excellent space and coaches. And very safe sport I discovered after attending for awhile. I recommend this club.

If you are interested in fencing, this is the place to be. Quality instruction and involvement at the local, regional, national, and international levels of fencing. Both of my sons have had and continue to have great experiences with the Fencing Institute of Texas.

FIT is a family atmosphere sport club that welcomes everyone! If you are looking for an adaptive sport facility, this is it! They teach Wheelchair Fencing and other Adaptive students. They encourage students to perform at their best, some have competed in the Olympics, Paralympics, and have received scholarships to Duke, NJIT, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and other excellent schools.

How long have you been in business?
Fencing Institute of Texas opened their doors in October 1998. However, many of the members had been involved as a club for 10 years prior to that, or more.
What is your primary product or service?
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that teaches Olympic sport fencing to anyone 6 years or older who wants to learn. Our fine staff of internationally trained staff teach all three weapons: foil, epee and sabre. We are also the only Paralympic Sport Club teaching Adaptive and Wheelchair Fencing.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
The Board of Directors decided to form when our original coach was selected to be the Head Coach of the Air Force Academy. We decided to build an organization that would recruit and maintain a staff of qualified, trained coaches. We also see a need for adaptive and wheelchair fencing training to train youth and adults for the Paralympic Games.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We are the only non-profit training facility for Olympic and Paralympic Fencing in the Metroplex. Our coaching staff are certified instructors, many of whom have bachelors or masters degrees in sports with sport psychology and sport medicine. Our staff are dedicated to the development of the student within the sport, whether the student desires to be a recreational fencer or an international competitor.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Fencing Institute of Texas has one main location in Carrollton. We provide coaching to various school programs and satellite areas in the Metroplex.
Provide detailed directions to your location
FIT is located approximately 1/5 mile west of Carrollton Town Center. Easily accessed from I35 and I161, FIT is north of I635. The facility is on West Crosby Road between Luna and I35.
What type of payments do you accept?
We accept cash, checks, Visa, Master Card, Discover and American Express.
Which areas do you service?
Our students come from the entire Metroplex including Flower Mound, Denton, Garland, Rowlett, all of Dallas and Fort Worth, the Hurst-Euless-Bedford areas, Arlington, Burleson, and even as far away as Waco.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Our organization is operated by a Board of Directors who are all volunteers. We have a trained, paid staff of seven Coaches who teach fencing. The daily business operations are performed by a General Manager and Office Manager.
What are your hours of operation?
Our normal fencing times are Monday through Friday, 5-10 PM, and Saturday, 9 AM - 4 PM. Other practice times may be arranged through the coaches. Wheelchair fencing programs are currently on Sunday afternoons.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
You made a difference in the lives of children and adults!
